Lekki Deep Sea Port, in collaboration with the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Creative Arts Department, concluded the “Lekki Port Story Through Art” exhibition with a grand finale event held at NIPOST Tower, Victoria Island, Lagos. The exhibition brought together students, cultural leaders, and industry stakeholders to showcase how young artists interpret the story of Lekki Port as Nigeria’s gateway to global trade.
The initiative began with a visit to Lekki Port, where UNILAG students participated in a live painting exercise inspired by the port’s infrastructure, operations, and impact on Nigeria’s economic future. The artworks were later curated and presented at the exhibition, highlighting the intersection of creativity, culture, and commerce.
In his remarks, Chairman of Lekki Port, Mr. Biodun Dabiri, commended the students for their creativity and innovation, noting that initiatives like this encourage youth engagement and storytelling that reflect Nigeria’s maritime transformation. Managing Director of Lekki Port, Mr. Wang Qiang, emphasized the Port’s commitment to fostering partnerships beyond trade, including cultural collaborations that inspire the next generation.
Distinguished guests at the event included the Consul General of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China, Yan Yuqing; Chairman of Lekki Port, Biodun Dabiri; and Managing Director of Lekki Port, Wang Qiang.
The highlight of the finale was the recognition of the top three winners: Oluwa Shalom (Winner), Oluwafemi Morakinyo (First Runner-up), and Ajeseni Godwin (Second Runner-up). Their works were celebrated for creatively expressing the Port’s role in transforming Nigeria’s maritime and economic landscape.
The exhibition underscored Lekki Port’s commitment to innovation, cultural engagement, and youth empowerment, reinforcing its role as not just a maritime hub but also a platform for creativity and national development.
