Lekki Port was graced by the esteemed presence of the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. This official visit marked a significant occasion for the port and its ongoing developments.
The Honourable Minister received a warm welcome from the capable Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Du Ruogang, with support from key figures such as Dinesh Rathi, Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Free Zone; Fubara Awantaye, Government Relations Manager at Lekki Freeport Terminal; and Mr. Hayatu Garba, the NEPZA Coordinator.
A comprehensive tour of the marine and landside infrastructure of the port provided the Honourable Minister with insights into the ongoing efforts to initiate port operations by September 2022. The Minister, in a session with members of the press, expressed his delight at the rapid pace of construction at the port, emphasizing that the Lekki Deep Sea Port is poised to be a game-changer and a trailblazer for Nigeria’s economic growth.
The Honourable Minister was joined by Emmanuel Jime, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, and the representation of Mohammed Bello-Koko, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, by Hon. Onari Brown, the Executive Director of Marine & Operations. This collaborative visit further solidified the commitment of various government bodies towards the success of Lekki Port, affirming its role as a strategic asset for the nation’s economic progress.
