Lagos, Nigeria. July 22, 2026. The management of Lekki Port, promoters of Lekki Deep Seaport, is set to welcome the maiden call of the HMM-ONE alliance service on Saturday, July 25, 2026. This development marks another significant milestone in the port’s growing integration into global shipping networks and reinforcing its position as a preferred maritime gateway for international trade.
The maiden vessel call follows the launch of the Mediterranean West Africa Service (MA2), a new container service jointly operated by Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) and Ocean Network Express (ONE). The collaboration brings the two global shipping lines to Lekki Port through a shared service connecting key ports across Europe and West Africa.
The MA2 service is expected to provide greater opportunities for Nigerian importers and exporters by strengthening connectivity with major international markets, improving cargo movement and supporting more efficient trade across Europe and West Africa. It also reinforces ongoing efforts to enhance Nigeria’s maritime competitiveness, increase direct vessel calls and facilitate the seamless movement of cargo through modern port infrastructure.
The Managing Director of Lekki Port, Wang Qiang, said the arrival of the HMM-ONE alliance service underscores the port’s growing reputation as a strategic hub capable of supporting larger cargo volumes and more efficient supply chains.

Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL) is the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that was awarded the Concession Agreement for the development and operations of the Lekki Deep Sea Port by the Nigerian Ports Authority. LPLEL is required to develop, build and operate a common user multipurpose port. The company sub-concessioned the container terminal operations to Lekki Freeport Terminal (LFT), a subsidiary of CMA/CGM, the world’s largest container shipping company.
