MIN. OF Transportation VISIT TO LEKKIPORT

Lekki Port marked a momentous occasion with the esteemed visit of the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Mallam Muazu Jaji Sambo, on Saturday, 13th August 2022. This visit, his first official one to the port, underlines the significance of Lekki Port as a pivotal project in the nation’s transportation sector.

Accompanied by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, and Alhaji Mohammed Bello-Koko, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the Honourable Minister was warmly received by Mr. Du Ruogang, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Lekki Port, along with members of the executive management team.

The Honourable Minister received a comprehensive briefing on the construction status, which currently stands at an impressive 96%, and the meticulous preparations underway for the commencement of port operations by the end of Q4 2022. Following this, a tour of the port showcased the advancements and quality of the infrastructure in place. The Honourable Minister, deeply impressed by the level of construction, lauded Lekki Deep Sea Port as a source of pride for all Nigerians.

The distinguished entourage accompanying the Honourable Minister included notable figures such as Dr. Bashir Jamoh, the Director General/CEO of NIMASA; Barrister Emmanuel Jime, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council; Prof. Idris Abubakar, the Executive Director Engineering & Technical Services at NPA; Hon. Onari Brown, the Executive Director Marine & Operation at NPA; and Ms. Adenrele Susannah Adesina, the Executive Director of Finance & Administration at NPA.

The Honourable Minister’s visit underscores the growing anticipation and optimism surrounding Lekki Port’s imminent operational commencement, reinforcing its pivotal role in transforming Nigeria’s maritime landscape.
