World Environmental Day 2023

In honor of World Environment Day 2023, the dedicated staff of Lekki Port and Lekki Freeport Terminal embarked on a meaningful initiative by paying a courtesy visit to Community Senior High School, Magbon-Segun (CSHS), and Community Junior High School (CJHS) Idotun. The primary objective of this visit was to enlighten the students about the significance of maintaining a clean environment and to emphasize the importance of World Environment Day, aligning with the theme of “Solutions to Plastic Pollution.”

Accompanied by the principals of the two schools, Mrs. Asunmo Abosede Adesola of CSHS and Mr. Aderibigbe Olufemi Peter of CJHS, the team engaged in a hands-on clean-up exercise on the school premises. Interactive sessions on waste management were conducted, with a particular focus on essential topics such as waste segregation, the concept of turning plastic waste into valuable materials (waste to wealth), and effective strategies for managing plastic pollution.

In a gesture aimed at fostering a conducive learning environment, the team extended their support by donating essential tools for waste management, including wheeler bins, rakes, packers, and sweeping brushes. Additionally, jotters and pens were provided to each school, reinforcing the commitment to education and environmental responsibility.

This commendable effort by the staff of Lekki Port and Lekki Freeport Terminal exemplifies their dedication not only to the success of the port project but also to the well-being of the surrounding community. By actively participating in environmental awareness and education, they contribute to the collective mission of #BeatPlasticPollution, advocating for a cleaner, healthier future for all.
